Dr. Cheryl Henson, Senior Pastor
Cheryl Henson began her duties as Senior Pastor January 1, 2010. Prior to that she served as the Regional Associate Minister of Area I of Great Rivers Region overseeing 57 churches in the northern section of Illinois with responsibilities for pastoral recruitment, pastor’s continuing education, church renewal, and camping curriculum coordinator.
Dr. Henson received her Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL. Her undergraduate work was at Culver-Stockton College where she majored in Religion and Philosophy. Prior to becoming Area 1 Minister, Cheryl was a local church pastor for 25 years serving in Great Rivers Region. Her last pastorate was First Baptist Church of Marengo, IL. During her tenure there, the church doubled its Sunday School, church attendance and budget.
A native of Keokuk, Iowa, Cheryl has been married to Michael for 36 years and has three children: Noah 33, Greg 29, and Jessica 25.
