Music Ministries
The music ministries of First Baptist Church include opportunities for all ages to participate in vocal and instrumental music ensembles. Unless otherwise noted, please contact Pastor Charity Rouse at fbcmusic.charity@gmail.com or 785-267-0380 for more information about the music program.

Adult Choirs
Chancel Choir – Thursday 7:00-8:30pm in the Music Suite (lower level) August – June
All singers, high school and older are welcome to join us in this ministry through music at our 11:00am traditional worship service. The choir also sings for the 8:30am worship service on Easter Sunday where anyone who would like to join in the singing of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” is welcome. There are additional opportunities for short-term commitments such as Cantatas and other special programs.
Brass Choir – Thursday 6:15pm in the Sanctuary (call for actual rehearsal dates)
All brass players are invited to join this choir directed by Carol Beck. The Brass Choir plays in church 4-5 times a year in the 11:00am worship service.
Adult Handbell Choir – Friday 10:00-11:00am in the Music Suite September – May
If you have played handbells before or have always thought it would be fun to play bells, come join us on Friday mornings as we ring for the Lord.
Summer Choir – Sunday mornings at 10:30am in the Music Suite (lower level) June-August
This group gathers on summer Sunday mornings to prepare a hymn-anthem to sing in the 11:00am worship service. There is no long-term commitment, we don’t wear robes and the choir gets to sit with their family/friends during the sermon.
Solo and Small Ensemble Opportunities (year round)
At First Baptist we have many opportunities for soloists (vocal and instrumental), duets, trios, and other special music. For our 11:00am worship service we regularly have pianists play gathering music and are always seeking additional volunteers to assist in this ministry. We use volunteers to provide special music for a variety of worship experiences including our Sunday morning traditional worship services at 8:30 & 11:00am, the Connexion Gathering at 9:45am, and at special evening worship services such as the candlelight Christmas Eve service.
Connexion Music Team – “Broken Bread”
(year round)
This group of youth and adults provides the music for our 9:45am alternative worship service. They typically rehearse on Saturdays or Sunday before the service. For more information, please contact Pastor Corey Fields.
